WHY IS INFLATION A TAX? — PART 5

Citizen Tom

Here is the fifth post in this series.

  • Part 1: Introduction
  • Part 2: How Much Money Do Our Leaders Want To Spend?
  • Part 3: What Additional Factors Can Produce Inflation?
  • Part 4: What Is Wrong With Price Controls?

In this post we will address the following.

Why Is Inflation A Tax?

Let’s take a side path for a moment, something to do with our last post in this series.

Lobotero begins his post, The Inflation ReductionAct (lobotero.com), with this nonsense.

Recently the Congress and the White House passed and signed a great bill that is suppose to help struggling Americans keep the prices of drugs down….

https://lobotero.com/2022/09/23/the-inflation-reduction-act/

That post ends with this nonsense.

This is typical….the Congress installs loopholes that can be exploited by the donors that pay their representatives to make it easier for them exploit the people of this country.

So bend over my fellow…

In Pennsylvania, Cleaner Elections Hinge On 3 Court Cases

PA Pundits - International

By Fred Lucas ~

Litigation in Pennsylvania could change election procedures in one of the most closely watched battleground states in the country.

In 2020, Joe Biden won Pennsylvania by about 80,000 votes statewide, beating Donald Trump’s 2016 victory margin in the state by about 45,000 votes.

Three lawsuits brought this month in Pennsylvania could change how elections are conducted in a key battleground state. This year, the seats of outgoing Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, a Democrat, and outgoing Sen. Pat Toomey, a Republican, are up for grabs in the Nov. 8 elections.

Here’s a look at three key lawsuits brought in September in the commonwealth.

President Biden’s “Fascism” Smear

PA Pundits - International

By Paul Driessen ~

President Biden claims millions of Republican voters have embraced “semi-fascism.” They “threaten not just our personal rights and economic security, but our very democracy, the very foundation of our republic,” in a “battle for the soul of our nation.”

This is hardly the “moderate” way to “unite” America. But Mr. Biden isn’t alone. Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison says the Republican Party has “become a party of fascism and fear.” Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) rants that Republican “fascists” are trying “to overthrow the government.” Their media allies echo and amplify the accusations.

Do they know what “fascism” means? Have they looked in a mirror, or at their own history and agenda?

Merriam-Webster defines fascism as “centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.”

A more complete definition: An extreme, intolerant system under which an authoritarian…

The Solar Panel Toxic Waste Problem

PA Pundits - International

By Duggan Flanakin ~

For decades, the solar industry benefited from generous federal, state, and local subsidies to increase its footprint. Yet these generous subsidies ignore the costs of disposal of solar panel waste.

Things may be changing. In May 2018, Michael Shellenberger, a Time Magazine “Hero of the Environment” and Green Book Award Winner, wrote in Forbes that the problem of solar panel disposal will explode with full force in two or three decades and wreck the environment because it is a huge amount of waste which is not easy to recycle.

Shellenberger was citing comments, published in the South China Morning Post, from Chinese solar expert Tian Min, general manager of Nanjing Fangrun Materials, a recycling company in Jiangsu province that collects retired solar panels. Tian called his country’s solar power industry “a ticking time bomb.”

This is not really news. The Associated Press had reported in 2013…

A California Economy Built On Wind And Solar Is A Mirage

PA Pundits - International

By Duggan Flanakin ~

In its never-ending war to demonstrate political correctness in the era of “climate change,” California lawmakers are demonstrating their ignorance of economics and resource allocation and angering voters across the nation in the process.

Just last year, the California legislature enacted a law that requires the state to obtain all of its electricity from “clean” sources – wind, solar, hydro – by 2045, with shorter term goal of 60 percent renewable by 2030. One has to wonder how the state is going to meet what promises to be a massive increase in energy demand just 25 years from now.

The California Energy Commission estimated that the state will consume 301,525 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity in 2020 – and that’s the lowball estimate! Just four years ago, the Golden State was importing a third of its electricity, and 44 percent of its electrical energy generation was from…

The High Costs And Low Benefits Of Electric Vehicles

PA Pundits - International

By Duggan Flanakin ~

The rush to decarbonize every nation in the world in one or maybe two decades reflects the “I want it all NOW!” philosophy imbued through modern education systems. Current and recent former students – and their teachers – demand a perfect world (since they can envision one) and exhibit zero patience (hence the nationwide riots in the U.S.).

Hopefully the mad stampede to destroy the West’s ability to use fossil fuels at all will be sidelined by harsh realities of economics, logistics, and resource availability (including a hoped for reticence to rely on child slave labor to satisfy their blood lust). Yet the United Kingdom, formerly a bastion of sanity, has mandated, as part of its drive toward an all-electric society, the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in every home by 2030 and that all new cars and vans be hydrogen or electric vehicles (and…

Electric Vehicles A Tool Of Tyranny

PA Pundits - International

By Duggan Flanakin ~

First, don’t blame the vehicle. It is a tool that might be just what Los Angeles needs to cope with inversions. Electric vehicles are also very good as airport shuttles and for other locations where short, repetitive routes are the primary use. Some may even be fun to drive (except when they catch on fire).

But do not believe for a minute that the plan is to replace each of the 275 million gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles on the road today in the United States with electric vehicles (which today comprise just 1 percent of the U.S. fleet). Worldwide, there are nearly of 1.5 billion vehicles on the road today, but only 6 million are EVs. That’s less than 0.5 percent. And most of them are in China, which controls the supply of batteries and electronics for EVs.

U.S. auto factories today manufacture about 9…

Push Against Hydrocarbon Cars Shows Contempt For Rural America And The Developing World

PA Pundits - International

By Duggan Flanakin ~

America’s big auto companies, less than 15 years since they were bailed out of bankruptcy following the Clinton-Bush recession of 2008, are betraying the American people out of their greed for government cash and favor. Their “net zero” plans – in conjunction with the globalist dictators and the Biden Administration – include eliminating huge numbers of jobs and devastating major segments of the U.S. economy.

The Democratic Congress has imposed taxes on the American people to subsidize electric vehicle purchases by wealthy, politically correct institutions, including rental car agencies, government bureaucracies, and other entities buying in bulk. Meanwhile, auto manufacturers are planning to virtually eliminate auto dealerships, ethanol producers, and auto parts dealers and vastly diminish the number of auto mechanics.

Insulting the vast majority of its member automobile owners, the American Automobile Association hypocritically reports that “vehicle ownership, whether electric or gas-powered, is a personal…

The Left’s Eco-Insanity

PA Pundits - International

By Gary Bauer ~

The left has its narrative, and it is pushing its radical agenda full speed ahead — no matter the damage or risks.

Do you enjoy your iPhone? Do you like having a comfortable home in the summer and winter? Do you think abundant and affordable energy is important to our economy and national security?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you’ve got big problems with today’s left that insanely believes “green energy” will power everything. It won’t and it can’t.

But economics and reality don’t matter. The left has its narrative, and it is pushing its radical agenda full speed ahead — no matter the damage or risks. The left’s insanity was on full display Wednesday during a House Financial Services Committee hearing.

Seeking to publicly shame America’s financial industry leaders for not sufficiently kowtowing to the radical “green” agenda, Rep. Rashida…

Random Thoughts…

The Lone Cactus

As I sit here looking out the window at the beautiful sunshine and the cool 75 degree temperatures this morning, a bunch of different thoughts hit me.

I wonder if the world would react to any previous US President in the same manner that they have reacted to the death of Queen Elizabeth II? My guess is not. Oh, there’ll be the pomp and circumstance associated with state funerals, but the outpouring? Nah. I can’t think of one living president that would reach that level.

Will Hunter Biden ever get what’s coming to him? I can’t think of many people that are pure scum, but this guy sure seems to fit the bill. How any woman can stay with him is beyond me.

Can we PLEASE stop talking about the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago. Yes, it was an atrocity that the FBI and DOJ took part in. It doesn’t do…
